Hi Martha

Not exactly related, but a shout out on twitter might be useful with a hashtag - like what V&A Andrew (V&Andrew?) did for WiFi splash screens #mobilewifisplash - https://twitter.com/search?q=%23mobilewifisplash&src=hash

We're about to launch an app project (jointly with other parties), so will share our promo material when all is out and about.

Adrian

Subject: [MCG] Signage/marketing for museum apps and tours

Hi all,

I'm gathering examples of how museums and galleries advertise apps or mobile tours in gallery for a project I'm working on at the Science Museum.
Would people on the list mind sharing their own examples with me?

My questions would be: what type of signage do you have to encourage people to download or use an app in gallery? Are you using print, or the wifi login page, or other methods to advertise that an app is available? What have you found successful, or unsuccessful?

I'm hoping to do a fairly wide survey of what various institutions are doing and then will publish it as a blog post as well, as hopefully people might find that interesting and useful. Or does anyone know of anything like that which already exists?

Thanks,
Martha
