-----------Apologies for cross-posting----------- Hi all, on Saturday, 21 June 2014 from 10:30 to 16:30, there will be a library camp in Canterbury. A 'library camp' is built around an 'un-conference' structure: it is free to attend, no predefined agenda of talks and focused heavily on audience participation. This means that, instead of sitting in front of a series of Powerpoint presentations by official speakers, everyone just turns up and pitches their ideas of what they would like to discuss. Un-conference sessions are conversations, not lectures. They are non-hierarchical and everyone is listened too equally because everyone who works in a library has ideas that are worth sharing and developing. Un-conferences are indeed for sharing. However, you are also more than welcome to attend and hear what other fellow colleagues have to say. It is a great way to learn and develop (for free!), reflect on your own experience and knowledge, and to network. It’s open to anyone: public/private/whatever sector and you don't have to work in a library. It is an event aimed at anyone interested in libraries. The topics of the sessions usually varies greatly.
