With all humor intended, one would dearly like to know what the "certain allowances" entail.

All best,

Subject: riduculous payment - but hey, it's Oxford!

Dear Colleagues,

Just to point out that the current job offer "Lectureship in German" in Oxford http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/AIJ575/lectureship-in-german/
for which they are happily paying "£17,685 per annum (together with certain allowances)"
is less than the average income of a receptionist working in Oxordshire http://www.totaljobs.com/salary-checker/average-receptionist-salary-oxford-oxfordshire
which is £17,789

Have a wonderful weekend,
Falco
