Hello John,

For reference try this link. The Dutch standard is variable but for main streets the order is motor vehicle roadway and then parking/planting  and then cycle lane and then pavement is preferred because of the hogher subjective safety. No need for cars to cross cycleway to park and works very  well to encourage cycling.

In November 2013 Noelle and Kevin cycled from George  to CapeTown in South Africa,
through the Karoo desert, over 4 mountain passes to raise awareness and funds for the Bicycling Empowerment Network South Africa.

Please visit our new Just Giving page at http://www.justgiving.com/karoochallenge to donate.

We needed to raise a minimum of 4000£ ( 40000 R) to pay for the transport of  a container load of bikes and bits from www.re-cycle.org to help kick start the project. A container can accept about 470 bikes, so a 10£ donation will pay for one bike to South Africa !
Currently we have raised just over 5900£ any extra raised will go to ensure the sustainablility of the project, planning permission is now being sought to site a workshop container !
Please "Like" our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/KarooChallenge
Thanks very much.
