Robin,
In terms of low flow sampling a bladder pump should deal with the issue of pumping from deeper depths rather than using a peristaltic. In terms of well volume
as said previously three volumes should be enough and low flow would be better and probably cheaper with a flow through cell as long as the water is not very heavily mineralised particularly in the Made Ground. If it is you could get issues with the readings
not stabilising for conductivity.
Low flow is always preferable if disposal is required due to NAPL problems.

Subject: Well Development and Purge Volumes
Dear All,
Thank you all for all the overwhelming feedback which is interesting. Things have moved on since I first slung a bailer down a well, wondered what I was trying to accomplish and hoped for the best. Very conflicting guidance and opinion
out there and have reviewed the literature from the links that have come back to me. We have 7 203mm wells with a 50mm ID standpipe and it seems to be a dilemma if you purge the volume of the pipe or include the volume (in need of a vacuum tanker for the disposal)
in the gravel pack @ 203mm. I have based on the feedback and guidance, plumped for a compromise of purging 5x the standpipe volume which should I hope give representative conditions within the aquifer without busting the bank on waste disposal. Then on, we
will revert to Low Flow and no purging although this will bring out its own set of challenges in the long screened wells so we are setting up two channels within each well. The source is predominantly DNAPL tars , in the shallow sub surface and as deep as
18m at point.
Once again many thanks to those who responded to my question and I will post on how things go during the monitoring. I might keep this going on the Linkedin site, which you are welcome join.
