MEDICAL SCIENCES DIVISION: Athena SWAN Advisor and Facilitator (maternity cover)
Grade 8: £37,756 - £45,053, full time (37.5 hours per week), fixed-term for one year

THIS POST MAY ALSO BE OFFERED AS A SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Athena SWAN Advisor and Facilitator to provide support, guidance and advice to departments across the Medical Sciences Division. The Division has made a strong commitment to supporting all its constituent departments in achieving Silver awards in 2015, with the strategic aim of improving the gender balance in academic roles.

As well as developing initiatives to enable the successful delivery of action plans, you will also facilitate the sharing of best practice and make a substantial contribution to the development of policy in this important area of Divisional business. The work will also include research into gender demographics and dynamics and identifying where and why gender differences occur.

This rewarding role will call upon your full range of creative and communication capabilities, as you present data and suggest policy and practice interventions to Heads of Department and Athena SWAN groups, including senior academics. The ability to make clear and illuminating visual presentations and write concise and clear reports equivalent to the level expected of research scientists is essential. The ability to propose and carry out qualitative and quantitative research and make hypotheses is also essential.

This is a full-time position for a fixed period of one year covering maternity leave, starting from mid -May 2014. A secondment will also be considered.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Monday 17 March 2014.
