The department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning of Utrecht University seeks to appoint four assistant professors (0.8 fte-1.0 fte) on the integrative themes:
Sustainable Cities and Regions and Healthy Urban Living
We seek highly motivated candidates who hold a PhD in Geography or a relevant cognate discipline. Next to that:

  *   you have substantial high-level experience in teaching and research and you are able to show leadership in the above-mentioned fields;
  *   you have a strong theoretical and methodological background and interest in the mentioned geographical and planning domains or related disciplines in social science;
  *   your experience should be demonstrated in conducting scientific research leading to high-quality publications, by obtaining research funding, and in teaching and supervising students at the (under)graduate level. As both teaching and research are the main activities in the positions, proven skills in both are required.
The post is available from April first 2014. The successful candidate will initially be offered a full-time or 0.8 fte position as an assistant-professor for two years with a possible extension to four years on the basis of a positive evaluation halfway the second year. Halfway through the fourth year it will be assessed whether the position can be converted to a tenured post or should end after four years.
The gross monthly salary is between € 2,799 and € 4,462 on a fulltime basis. The salary is supplemented by a holiday allowance of 8% per year and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
