I think the point John was making was that you only give half the story, i.e. your instructions don't tell someone how to upload the proxy in the first place. Feel free to copy/refer to what I wrote here: http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/deployment/users/myproxy.html That was correct when I wrote it, and I don't think there have been huge changes since. myproxy can be used in a variety of different ways, but as you say it's probably best to settle on one of them and recommend it.
