 MONA FOUNDATION FUNDRAISING EVENT!
HELP RESCUE LINDA!  COME AND JOIN OUR FUNDRAISING EVENT

SATURDAY, 26th APRIL 2014 AT THE COPTHORNE LONDON GATWICK HOTEL AT 7.00PM

There will be an auction, raffle prizes and plenty of good company with fellow primate lovers!  Tickets priced at £20 per person include hot/cold buffet and complimentary glass of wine/juice.  Pay Bar will be available all evening.  Dress code: smart/casual.  Accommodation has been discounted for anyone attending this charity event (see details below)

We would like to introduce you to Linda, a beautiful chimpanzee estimated to be about 35 years old, victim of a cruel fate.  She was smuggled from the wild in Cameroon and spent her early years as a touristic amusement on the beaches of Lanzarote, where she was photographed with the tourists.  However, as many people are unaware, these “cute, furry, funny” animals mature and can become aggressive and turn against their owners/carers.  Linda reached maturity and her owner realised they could not control her so she was no more useful or safe to take to the beach to pose with tourists and was instead imprisoned in a cage in a room at her owner’s house.

The good news is that hopefully before the end of Spring 2014 Linda's life will be completely different when the MONA Foundation rescues her. She will no longer have a sad and lonely destiny. She may be 35 years old but it will never be too late for her to learn how she can spend her last years happy and content in the company of other chimpanzees and form friendships – something she has never experienced – while being looked after by the carers at Mona.  Linda will be able to experience outdoor life, feel free to roam in her sanctuary with the other chimpanzees and, more importantly, she will be able to learn how to behave as a chimpanzee.

Linda needs our help

Please help us rescue and take care of Linda. We need your help to pay for the  veterinary costs, the transfer expenses and her maintenance for at least the first year, until we find enough sponsors to help cover the costs of the coming years, as chimpanzees can reach 60 years of age.  We also need to ensure the ongoing care for our other rescued chimpanzees who reside at the sanctuary.
