*Time*: 5:30-7:30pm, followed by a reception

Medicine, Keppel Street, London WC1E 7HT

Beginning with a short public health film about infection and hygiene in
hospitals in 1963 and ending with a film about swine flu and vaccination in
2009, this session will examine the evolution of how public health messages
are presented to the public.

In discussion with attendees we hope to discover not only how public health
messages have changed, but also how views of public health have altered
over time.

The themes we will explore together include:

   - continuities and changes over time in both the content of the films
   and how they were presented
   - the kinds of behaviours that were being encouraged; and
   - how the film-makers envisaged the public.

On the panel will be:

Dr Alex Mold <http://www.lshtm.ac.uk/aboutus/people/mold.alex> (Lecturer in
History and panel Chair, London School)
Professor Anne Marie
Rafferty<https://kclpure.kcl.ac.uk/portal/anne_marie.rafferty.html>
(Chair
of Nursing Policy, Kings College London)
Dr Catherine Dodds
<http://www.lshtm.ac.uk/aboutus/people/dodds.catherine> (Lecturer
in Health Policy with a research background in HIV treatment and
prevention, London School)
Sandra Mounier-Jack<http://www.lshtm.ac.uk/aboutus/people/mounier-jack.sandra>
(Lecturer
in Health Policy currently exploring vaccine adoption, London School).

We hope to see you there.

Best wishes
