Maternity Cover:  Thomas Young Centre (TYC) and London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN) Coordinator, UCL
Salary(inclusive of London allowance) - £32,699 - £39,523 pro rata

 

 

The TYC is one of the world’s top centres for the theory and simulation of materials, and comprises around 100 academics and their research groups in the London universities.
The London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN) is a UK based multidisciplinary enterprise operating at the forefront of science and technology. This is a dual role with approximately 50% of time devoted to each of the TYC and LCN.

 

The TYC part of the role will involve managing all aspects of running the TYC at UCL, including coordinating communications between TYC members and PIs, event logistics, media relations and marketing, website management, responsibility for financial monitoring and control and business development. It will also involve providing administrative and secretarial support to the Director of the TYC at UCL.

 

The LCN part of the role will involve helping to raise the profile of the centre through development and maintenance of the LCN website, press and marketing activities.

 

The position is to cover maternity leave and is for an initial period of 6 months starting 12th May 14.  This is expected to be extended for up to another 6 months.

 

 

The post-holder must have a good university degree, ideally in a scientific discipline. Substantial experience in administration, preferably in higher education, and excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise in the face of competing demands, are required.  Candidates are also expected to have the ability to translate scientific information into clear and accessible copy for a range of audiences and have relevant experience in managing complex websites including monitoring web statistics.
