NICSO 2013 was the sixth edition of the International Workshop on Nature
Inspired Cooperative Strategies for Optimization. The NICSO workshop
aims to foster a deeper investigation and a vigorous exchange of ideas
about emerging research areas on problem solving strategies where nature
plays a key role as source of inspiration. The aim of this special issue
is to reflect the most recent advances in the field. Topics of interests
include (but are not limited to):

     - Adaptive Behaviour
     - Ants Colonies
     - Amorphous Computing
     - Artificial Life
     - Artificial Immune Systems
     - Bioinformatics
     - Bio-inspired architecture
     - Biological and Chemical IT
     - Complex Systems
     - Distributed Computing
     - Evolutionary Robotics
     - Evolvable Systems
     - Games and Game Theory
     - Genetic Algorithms
     - Genetic Programming
     - Hyperheuristics
     - Membrane Computing
     - Memetic Algorithms
     - Quantum Computing
     - Software Self-Assembly
     - Systems Biology
     - Systems Co-evolution
     - Swarm Intelligence

All submissions will be peer reviewed subject to the standards of the
journal. Authors of accepted papers to NICSO 2013 are also invited to
submit their contribution for publication in this special issue.
Manuscripts based on already published NICSO 2013 papers must be
extended substantially.
