This day-long workshop will explore how research questions can be explored with data from the UK Data Service.
It is designed to complement the workshop on starting analysis of secondary survey data held on the 7 March 2014.
The focus will be on:
This session will use a mixture of presentation, group work and hands-on computing sessions using the UK Data Service
website to explore these issues. Participants will also get the opportunity to provide feedback on the site with Service staff.
Costs are:
UK Students: £30
UK Academic staff (including research centres), ESRC researchers, voluntary and public sector staff: £60

Secondary analysis workshop: Day 2: Starting analysis of secondary survey data

This workshop will provide users with basic skills in starting analysis in both cross-sectional and longitudinal microdata.
It complements the workshop on finding and evaluating data for your research held on 6 March 2014.
Topics will include:

using exploratory data analysis to understand your data
·
understanding missing values
·
deriving variables
·
linking files
·
applying weights
The practical session will use SPSS.
