In summary:

The 'Great Object Race' campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the object collections held by the partner museums. The key audience for this campaign is people who don't normally visit our museums.

In this campaign 3 - 5 objects will race virtually around the world propelled by the use of unique Twitter hash tags, the race will be played out in real time. Over the next 12 months a series of 'tweet races' will be orchestrated to showcase different items from the collections.

We also wish to explore other ideas so that hash tags are used to cause other virtual actions such as grow a dinosaur egg.

The key tasks we require help with and which should be included in your quotation are as follows:

  1. Development of the idea 'Great Object Race' to ensure maximum engagement with a local and national audience that includes people who don't normally visit museums
  2. Graphic design for the website for the campaign
  3. Development of web infrastructure to allow museum staff to set up the races
  4. Development of web front end to display the object race in real time driven by the number of tweets that have used the hash tags
  5. Support and web hosting for the website for 12 months
  6. Development of a system of metrics to monitor the success of the campaign

KEY DELIVERABLES
During the timescale of the project, the successful organisation will be required to:

  1. Present ideas for how the 'Great Object Race' activity will work
  2. Design and deliver website to aggregate data from twitter hash tags and display results in an interesting and attractive way
  3. Deliver a system for obtaining metrics to measure the success of the activity
  4. Provide regular progress updates to the Digital Projects Officer
