This is a repeat of the course held in Manchester last year. Comments from Previous Participants “An absolutely fantastic course - so much useful and clear information, nothing vague or fuzzy - all of it can be applied in practice. Can't wait to get going on it.” “I found the course very informative and would recommend it to others if it every came round again.” “A fabulous event with lots of food for thought. It was just what I wanted and I'm sure that the others who attended will feel the same.” If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Gil -------------------------------------------------------------------- As competition grows and NHS budgets are scrutinised, it is ever more important to make sure that your library services continue to be recognised and used extensively.
You know your services are relevant, useful, cost effective and far better than competing sources of information. But how do you convince your customers? In a world where everyone is suffering from information overload you need to be able to get your
message out there clearly, memorably, and in a way that makes people take action.
Effective copywriting is a creative skill that allows you to make a fundamental shift from
conveying information about what you offer to persuading people to take you up on that offer (and in so doing, help you to meet your business and marketing objectives). This course will give you confidence in your ability to make this shift and
get results, by teaching you the tools and techniques that you can use to write compelling, relevant marketing copy. 13 March 2014 Effective Copywriting to Market your Services 10.00-16.30 Trainer: Ruth Sneddon -

Entries
open for the CILIP Libraries Change Lives Award: Today, 20 February, entries have opened for the 2014 CILIP Libraries Change Lives Award. Now in its 23rd year the award
highlights and rewards library, information and knowledge partnership work that changes lives, brings people together and demonstrates innovation and creativity.
The judges welcome entries from all library, information and knowledge sectors based in the UK.
From the entries the judges select three finalists, who all receive greater recognition and profile. Once the judges have visited the shortlisted
organisations, a winner is selected and will be announced at CILIP’s Big Day event in September 2014. The winner receives a cheque for £4,000 and a trophy. Past winners and finalists have positively changed people’s lives in many different ways, from providing information and support to people
diagnosed with cancer, to supporting families whose children have autism. They have worked alongside adults with learning difficulties and taken a fresh approach to a prison library service by providing greater support for skills development and supporting
rehabilitation after prison. Surrey County Council won the award in 2013 for work supporting people experiencing domestic abuse. Craig Jones from Surrey Council described
winning as “a very significant moment”, he said, “We were thrilled that others in the library profession also recognised the value of this work, and the people that we can help, as this is an area that we ourselves feel passionate about.”
The CILIP Libraries Change Lives Award is organised by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals’ Community, Diversity
and Equality Group. Find out more and enter the award:http://www.cilip.org.uk/cilip/advocacy-awards-and-projects/awards-and-medals/cilip-libraries-change-lives-award CILIP NW Branch and CDG NW AGM & Members' Day:

The following is an interesting Prezi describing the process of carrying out a systematic review. Sadly Prezi does not always run correctly on IE7. http://prezi.com/hhaxyx5fopo7/interventions-on-frequent-attenders-a-systematic-review/ Anne Gray,
Knowledge Officer Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit New Evidence Updates from NICE:
We are
pleased to inform you Evidence Updates on
‘Patient experience in adult NHS services’ and
‘The epilepsies’ have
been published. NICE Evidence Updates help to reduce the need
for individuals, managers and commissioners to search for new evidence, and keep health and social care professionals up-to-date with new research.
While Evidence Updates do not replace current accredited guidance and do not provide formal recommendations, they do highlight new evidence that health and social care professionals may wish to consider alongside current guidance. An Evidence Update Advisory Group, comprised of topic experts, reviewed the prioritised evidence and provided a commentary.
Your help in disseminating the Evidence Updates would be much appreciated.
We would also welcome your feedback on the Evidence Updates, what you like about them and how you think they could be improved. You can send your comments
through to [log in to unmask].
Thank you in advance for your support. Kind regards,
