Dear all,

we are suddenly failing the
org.nordugrid.ARC-CE-sw-gcc-/ops/NGI/Germany Nagios test. The (only)
error message is

Cound not find GCC version in output

and got a ticket:

https://helpdesk.ngi-de.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=3878

We checked all WNs that gcc -v gives to correct answer and even forced
the test to a single WN, so that we are 1000%sure that gcc is there and
okay, but still the test is failing.

To we asked out NGI team for a bit more information than just the one
line of error. The answer in the ticket was:

""" Unfortunately with update 22 and the new set of ARC probes, very
little logging information is provided back to the Nagios SAM server,
see ticket

https://ggus.eu/ws/ticket_info.php?ticket=100995

so it is difficult to debug/assist sites from the Nagios server side. """

So at the moment it looks that we are failing a test where

- we don't know which script is executed
- we don't know what error message was produced and
- we don't have any other kind of debug message than the single line of
"error message"

This is a situation which is really a bit "sub-optimal". Frankly, I have
no idea how to proceed from here. The OS was not touched for >2 weeks.

Any ideas how to proceed from there?

Thanks

  Torsten
