When I entered my first group of students last year for GCSE Maths, I tried to create a new UCI number for them but the system rejected my entries as the UCI number did not match their original one.  When I rang Edexcel to query this I was told that for students that have just left school I need to use their school UCI numbers, if they have been left for several years you can create new ones for them.  I have to phone the schools they come from and obtain their UCI numbers from them, luckily like you I only have a small number of students to enter (at the moment).

Mr Dim here, who is trying to enter a small group of students manually for their GCSE Edexcel Maths exam in June 2014. 

I’m being asked to enter a UCI Number and after using Google – other search engines are available – now know what a UCI number is.  What I’m not clear on is how to get/create/make-up this UCI Number.  Is there somewhere official I can go to get one, or is it pick 13 numbers/characters from a hat?

This is the first time I have had to enter students for GCSE’s and my MIS Manager is not around to ask.
