We welcome abstracts for the

 

Third Annual Conference of ALTER-ESDR

Lisbon, July 2-4th 2014

The conference is the annual meeting of Alter – European Society for Disability Research and aims at gathering multidisciplinary, European and international research of interest to scholars in the social sciences and humanities and relevance to the lives of persons with disabilities.
The 2014 conference theme, Exploring Disability: Epistemologies, Policies and Politics, invites papers that engage with theoretical or empirical research and reflect critical and cutting-edge work on disability studies across a broad range of topics that include, but are not restricted to:

  • Disability, policy and politics
  • Advocacy, disability activism, and the voice of persons with disabilities
  • Disability rights and the UN Convention
  • Theoretical and conceptual developments on disability
  • Emancipatory research methods and applied research
  • Gender, sexuality and embodied experiences
  • Quality of life and social participation
  • Representations of disability in literature, media, film and art.



Languages of the Conference

The languages of the Conference will be English, Portuguese and Sign language.  

Abstracts specifications

An abstract of maximum 300 words in Times New Roman (12 pt. font) should be submitted by 28 February 2014

The abstract should be submitted in English and should contain the following information:

  • Title of presentation
  • First and last name, followed by affiliation
  • E-mail address of the corresponding author
  • Language of the presentation (English, Portuguese, Sign language)



The notification of acceptance of abstracts will be sent to the corresponding author at the latest by 31 March 2014.
