University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust

Junior Medical Statistician

Band 5 (£21,388 - £27,901 per annum depending on skills and experience)

(Fixed term for one year)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Statistician to join the Department of Medical Statistics based at Wythenshawe Hospital. This NHS Teaching Trust currently has a strong research profile and the further development of Research and Development is one of the Trust’s main objectives.

The Department of Medical Statistics plays an important role in the implementation of the Trust’s R & D strategy by providing essential infrastructure to all aspects of research (collaborating with researchers on externally-funded studies, providing a statistical advisory service and running an education programme).

The post-holder will assist in the provision of a statistical advisory service to Trust researchers, the development of a web-based information service, and be involved in the data management and statistical analysis of data from major projects. He/she will also be expected to contribute to the statistics education programme.

The successful applicant will have a good first degree in statistics (or mathematics with a strong statistical content) and preferably a postgraduate qualification.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical statistical skills in a high-level working environment.

This is a full-time post for a fixed term of one year in the first instance.

[For suitably qualified candidates with a postgraduate degree and previous statistical consulting experience, a part-time post may be considered].
