In 2013 Professor Terry Speed received the Australian Prime Minister’s Prize for Science.

Terry Speed completed a BSc (Hons) in mathematics and statistics at the University of Melbourne, and a PhD in mathematics at Monash University. He has held appointments at the University of Sheffield, University of Western Australia, CSIRO, University of California at Berkeley, and the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. His current research interests lie in the application of statistics to genetics and genomics, and to related fields such as proteomics, metabolomics and epigenomics.
