Dear Mail Base, To let you know of the vacancy for a Consultant Head of Department in Biochemistry for South of Tyne and Wear. The consortium supplies laboratory services to the three local hospitals, that is Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside. A purpose built, state of the art Laboratory has just been built on the Gateshead site to provide acute work for Gateshead and cold work for the entire consortium. There are on-site facilities at the two other hospitals, both equipped with the latest instrumentation, to provide acute analyses. This is an exciting new post for someone who wants to leave their mark on the profession by steering the department through the later stages of amalgamation and setting the direction for the future. There are ample opportunities for research especially as the department will be equipped with two LCMSMS systems. Situated just south of Newcastle and just north of Durham, the area is an attractive place to set up home with marvellous countryside, empty beaches, cities of culture and leading schools. The vacancy has now been posted on NHS Jobs - Reference 297-2429-14. Informal chats and visits are encouraged. There is no internal candidate for this vacancy.
