Dear Zooarchers,

we thought you might be interested to know that English Heritage is producing best practice guidelines for zooarchaeology, written by EH specialists and external colleagues.  The guidance is very much directed at archaeology and zooarchaeology in the UK and specifically England, covering the practicalities of planning for zooarchaeological aspects of excavation and post-excavation. The intended audience is archaeological curators (local government), project managers, field staff and zooarchaeologists.

The consultation draft of the guidelines can be downloaded from: http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/consultations/. If you scroll down the page you will find the animal bones guidelines description, and to the right the associated documents.

The animal bones guidelines will add to a series of English Heritage guidance on heritage science, which can be downloaded for free from: http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/professional/research/heritage-science/ (see specialist links on left).

We will let you know when the final document is published.

Best wishes, Polydora Baker and Fay Worley
