Dear Nils,

Some years ago I wrote about this phenomenon, together with Horst and Uwe 
Kierdorf. Our article was published in the Journal of Archaeological Science 
33 (2006; pp. 1690-1695): H. Kierdorf, J. Zeiler & U. Kierdorf: Problems and 
pitfalls in the diagnosis of linear enamel hypolasia in cheek teeth of 
cattle.
Unfortunately I don't have a digital copy, but I can scan the offprint and 
send it to you. If anyone else would like to get a copy, please let me know
