CALL FOR PAPERS

3rd Annual International INTBAU Conference
Hosted by INTBAU Poland Chapter and Cracow University of Technology

Tradition and Heritage in the Contemporary Image of the City 

5-6 May 2014

Proposals are invited from academics and practitioners for conference sessions and posters.

SUB-THEMES THAT EMERGED FROM THE OVERARCHING THEME OF THE CONFERENCE, TO BE USED AS GUIDELINES FOR YOUR SUBMISSIONS, ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. LOCAL PRECEDENT
The conference will explore what has been successful in recent decades, and what has not. This should expand our knowledge about the role of tradition in shaping the contemporary image of the city and help influence the future of urbanism.

2. UNDERSTANDING LOCALITY 
and the 'DNA' of a place with all its layers of diverse local history.

3. COMMUNITY WISDOM 
through local community engagement.

4. LOCAL TECHNOLOGIES
The incorporation of innovative technologies in conjunction with the continuation of the best traditions. 

The conference will explore the diversity of the great traditions of town planning and urban design as well as a wide variety of activities in traditional urban space, with particular stress on the interface between the private and public realms.

TYPES OF PRESENTATIONS:
.	PEER-REVIEWED ACADEMIC PAPERS 
.	PRACTICE-DRIVEN PAPERS, NON-REFEREED PAPERS, SHARING OF PROJECTS AND GOOD PRACTICE

Note: In both of the above categories, it is possible to submit a paper, a poster, or both. Accepted papers will form the conference proceedings.
 
SUBMITTING PROPOSALS
All proposals and abstracts should be 150 words or less and should be submitted online on:

The deadline for abstracts submission is 7 February 2014

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF PAPERS:

Length: 2,500 - 5,000 words (presentation 12 minutes)
Spacing: 1.0 
Font: Times New Roman 
Font Size: 12 
Format: Microsoft Word
Graphic material: 2 pages 13 x 18 cm, JPGs 300 dpi
Please provide the following:
Abstract (150 words or less), Key words, Bibliography 
Authors' names, affiliations, postal address, e-mail, telephone number

The deadline for submission of full papers is 31 March 2014
