Associate Professor of Human Geography

The position is associated with the research group "Transformation of Cities and Landscapes - Geoinformatics". 

The successful candidate has a strong research profile in social geography in a European and/or North American context with emphasis on urban and regional socio-economic processes and uneven geographies. The successful candidate should contribute to the cross-disciplinary efforts of the research group. The position will complement the current core research activities on urban and peri-urban transformations and add insights of the processes of social differentiation and disparity on the local and regional scales. 

The successful applicant has a keen interest in collaborative research and documented experience from joint research projects is an advantage. A proven record of successful applications for external funds is essential as the applicant is expected to seek research funds either independently or in collaboration with other researchers. 

Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required in order to obtain a permanent position. 

Duties include the applicant´s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department. 

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding will also be considered. 

The Geography Section conducts research within a wide range of Human and Physical Geography subjects. It comprises the following research groups: Environment & Society in Developing Countries, Transformation of Cities & Landscapes, Geoinformatics, Terrestric Ecosystem analysis and Dynamic geomorphology. The section is responsible for teaching on all levels and welcomes almost 100 new students per year.

Terms of employment 
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. 
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. 

Commencing salary is currently 
For Assoc. Professor - up to DKK 441,149 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 75,437) 

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
