I'm helping a researcher at my university identify potential data repositories in which he might ultimately be able to deposit/share his data once the project is complete (not a working space, he has that). In addition to offering our IR/local solutions, I like to also provide the researcher with an option for one or more domain repositories for them to consider, but I'm having a hard time identifying one in his field. He's a mechanical engineer who works in fluid dynamics/heat transfer and does laboratory experiments. He produces videos and tabular data files, as well as workflow documents. I've looked around (including in Databib and re3data) and not found any that seem to be either focused on fluid mechanics or are a catch-all for engineering in general. The closest I've found anywhere on the margins was: * myExperiment<http://service.re3data.org/repository/r3d100010473?surl=http%3A%2F%2Fservice.re3data.org%2Fsearch%2Fresults%3Fterm%3Dmyexperiment> (social web site for researchers sharing research objects such as scientific workflows) [some of his documents are workflows, but he's really most focused on sharing his videos/tabular data files from his experiments] * OpenEI<http://service.re3data.org/repository/r3d100010060?surl=http%3A%2F%2Fservice.re3data.org%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Ffilter%3Fterm%3Dopenei%26d%3D25> (The Open Energy Information (OpenEI.org) initiative is a free, open source knowledge-sharing platform created to facilitate access to data, models, tools, and information that accelerate the transition to clean energy systems through informed decisions.) [this one is a real stretch (trying the "heat transfer" angle and probably won't work] Again, we can always fall back on our IR, but I wanted to double-check and make sure I wasn't missing specific domain alternatives that might have features that would be superior for his domain than what you'd get in a generic system such as an IR.
