Space Scientists and Robotic Engineers required for schools assembly working with Y Touring Theatre Company and Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock
This spring One KX & Y Touring have partnered with world leading space scientist, television presenter, University College London (UCL) Fellow and former Camden School pupil, Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock to deliver a series of school presentations educating young women about space science and encouraging them to consider careers in science and engineering.
This pilot project has been taken up by three Central London schools and we will be measuring the impact on those that participate. The series includes four large scale school assemblies exploring our understanding of the universe, space technologies and our creative responses to the skies above. The interactive assemblies cover the following topics:
• A tour of the Universe
• Satellites and their impact on society
• Space Robots and landing on other planets
• The facts behind science-fiction
We are looking for guest speakers to inspire our audience members about the use of robots in space and landing on other planets. The session will be introduced by Dr Aderin-Pocock and then she will hand over to the successful candidate to lead the presentation. At the end Dr Aderin-Pocock will facilitate a Q&A session.
We are looking for someone with strong person skills, experience of working with young people and solid knowledge of the use of robotics in space and space travel. If you feel that this could be you please get in touch with Steve on 020 7520 3096 or email [log in to unmask]
The sessions will take place on Wednesday 26th February and Thursday 27th February. There will be a third session which will be confirmed at a later date once arranged with the participating school. Each assembly lasts approximately an hour and is delivered to up to 200 students.
Best wishes,
Steve Byrne
