Hello Please could you circulate this on medsoc news? Many thanks
Rebecca

MedSoc (Wales) would like to invite you to a free informal research
seminar

'How should we study the social context of suicide and self-harm?'
Professor Jonathan Scourfield
Monday 23rd June 2014, 12.00 - 2pm, Social of Sciences, Cardiff
University CF10 3WT

This presentation will be framed by debates about the methodology of
suicide research which are well-known within sociology. Professor
Scourfield will argue for a dual paradigms approach and provide examples
with reference to several studies on the social context of suicide:
documentary research with coroners' records; interviews and focus groups
with young people; and measurement of social media communication.

Jonathan Scourfield is Professor of Social Work in Cardiff School of
Social Sciences and has an extensive publishing portfolio in suicide
research, social work and child welfare.
All welcome,

Rebecca Dimond [log in to unmask]
