Alas, that mid-C19 Synagoga on Notre-Dame de Paris<http://www.flickr.com/photos/pennstatelive/4948128534/in/photostream/> is unhatted. What Brenda seems to have interpreted as the lower brim of a hat is really part of a serpent covering Synagoga's eyes. And what Genevra takes to be a tiny triangular hat is really the serpent's open-jawed head:
