medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Thanks John.  I've got the hard-copy, and some of the images in it do indeed fit the bill, but I'm looking for more to test out a theory.

all best

Hi Laura,

Try Set in Stone: The Face in Medieval Sculpture from the Met Museum's exhibition of the same name of 2006.  The 240-page book, loaded with images, is available for free pdf download at the Met site:

With apologies for cross posting.   I am looking for medium-to-large images of the faces of pre-1300 sculpted portraits, taken in pure frontal view.  I'm finding them surprisingly hard to find, so if you do happen to know of any I'd be grateful.

Many thanks

Laura
