At the Royal Academy of Arts we use databases developed by System Simulation Ltd using their Index+ software to catalogue and manage our books and archives collections. They are two separate systems, which allow us to catalogue to the relevant standards (ISAD(G) for archives, AACR2\MARC21 for books), but use shared authority files and thesauri which enables cross-collection searching via the web-interface - (which is also based on Index+ software):

We're happy with the functionality and browsabiltiy of it, particularly with regards to the hierarchical display of archive records on the web.
