It is better to ask Cai Laoshi (蔡春老师), he knows how to teach his students to call him correctly every day.

Thanks, Doris. I tried that, but most of them could not get me, but with the help of ts in cats, it should work. I will try tomorrow.
Many thanks

The Chinese initial c is like the ts in the English word cats. I usually ask my students to hold their hand in front of their mouth and make sure they can feel the air coming out when making an aspirated sound.

I hope this will help your students.

Dear all:
It seems my current Year-7 pupils have a problem  pronouncing  '菜‘  (I have never had this problem in the previous years). Instead of saying '菜’,they say '在‘ or 's dai'. Does anyone have good ideas to correct them?
Many thanks!
Juan
