The ARLIS Professional Development Committee is pleased to offer a visit to Southwark Council's Canada Water Library and Culture Space. This is an exciting opportunity to visit a modern public library of architectural and cultural interest. The visit will take place on Thursday 20th February from 2:30pm - 4pm, and is free of charge.
Designed by world renowned architect Piers Gough, partner at CZWG architects, the Canada Water Library opened in November 2011, and incorporates the library facilities with theatre, music, comedy, dance and art in the 150-seat culture space, programmed by the nearby Albany theatre in Deptford. The Albany has a reputation for visionary programming that reflects the cultural diversity and creative mix of the area. The tour will be lead by staff from the library and theatre, and will hopefully include a visit to the roof! There is also an onsite cafe if members would like to purchase refreshments.
Canada Water Library and Culture Space is situated directly above Canada Water station (Jubilee line and London Overground).
