Hi to all,
Please have a look at this:

It just took me two minutes to email my MP and ask them not to reverse important changes made to the gagging law by the House of Lords.

The gagging law is currently being pushed through Parliament. It’s a law that could massively restrict what campaign groups and charities can do for a whole year before elections.

There’s been a huge outcry. Over 100 organisations have rallied against it and supported an independent expert commission who have suggested fixes. And last week the House of Lords voted to fix some of the worst parts of the law.

The government might try to reverse the improvements made in the House of Lords by pushing them to a vote in the House of Commons. If MPs hear from their constituents asking them not to reverse the Lords’ changes, they could vote against the government and keep the Lords’ improvements in.

Please can you email your MP now, and ask them not to reverse the Lords’ amendments?

Thanks to all who do!

SubjectThe Lobbying Bill
MessageIn the Commons this Wednesday, the government might try to reverse the improvements made to the Lobbying Bill by the House of Lords. The Bill is still incredibly problematic and has worrying implications for democracy, but the changes made by Lords have improved it.

Hundreds of thousands of people and hundreds of charities and campaign groups have already spoken out against the Bill, and in favour of the changes.

The changes in the Lords were made after an independent commission gathered evidence up and down the country before proposing how to fix the law. http://civilsocietycommission.info

I would also like to mention that the bill still has grave implications for our freedom of speech and democracy. These changes have made it better, so it’s really important they are not reversed and as I have no doubt you are aware being able to speak out against adversity and oppression is one of the things I value most about being a British citizen.

Will you promise that you’d vote against any effort to remove these positive changes?
