PhD studentship: University of Exeter
Repressing plant pathogens; molecular approaches to combating the enemy

A 3-year Leverhulme funded PhD studentship is available immediately in the laboratory of Prof. Murray Grant, to study the role of plant transcriptional repressors in plant immune pathways, using predictive and experimental approaches.

The project will focus on a novel MYB transcription factor and its role in modulating phytohormone crosstalk in defence pathways. The objectives are to use mutagenesis and transcriptional rewiring approaches to re-engineer hormone signaling pathways to overcome pathogen virulence strategies.  Experience in molecular biology is essential. Experience in plant biology and or bioinformatics/mathematics is desirable.

For further details contact Murray Grant ([log in to unmask]). The position is open to home and European students are eligible and applications close on 17th February 2014.
