Hong Kong's colonial era records remain intact | South China Morning Post I should like to reassure your readers, lest they be speculating on the fate of Hong Kong government records prior to 1997, that there was no mass destruction or secret burning of records in Hong Kong in the run-up to the end of British administration of the colony ("Burning embarrassments of empire", November 30). It was the policy of both the British and Hong Kong governments that the records of the Hong Kong colonial government and its archives should be passed in their entirety to the future HKSAR government on July 1, 1997, which was carried out under the general oversight of the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group. http://bit.ly/J55OEu Source: http://www.scmp.com/comment/letters/article/1375466/hong-kongs-colonial-era-records-remain-intact See if people are clicking on this link: http://bit.ly/J55OEu+ Try the bitly.com sidebar to see who is talking about a page on the web: http://bitly.com/pages/sidebar To view the list archives go to: https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=RECORDS-MANAGEMENT-UK To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to [log in to unmask] with the words UNSUBSCRIBE RECORDS-MANAGEMENT-UK For any technical queries re JISC please email [log in to unmask] For any content based queries, please email [log in to unmask]
