Dear Claire,

In response to your email, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself, Dr. Cathy Ashwin, I shall be taking up the position of Chief editor of MIDIRS commencing in February 2014. Michelle Anderson will be also joining as editor of Essentially MIDIRS. I am looking forward to this and having the opportunity and privilege in maintaining and building upon the excellent reputation held by MIDIRS in the past. The journals will continue to promote and inform readers of up to date news and evidence based midwifery research.

In response to your query regarding the survey, this had been designed by an independent company prior to Michelle and I becoming involved with MIDIRS. We aim to involve our customers as much as possible in the decisions we make regarding the development of both our existing resources and in the formulation of new information products. It goes without saying that market research is an essential part of any organisation’s business plan and our survey forms an integral part of our marketing strategy for 2014/15.
2013 has been a period of change at MIDIRS, there is no denying that, but our mission remains the same – to assist in the improvement of maternity care. We very much need your support in meeting this mission and hope that we can continue to provide the same excellent service you are used to for many years to come.

Please don’t hesitate to call me if you would like to discuss anything regarding the survey in more detail.

Kind regards
Cathy Ashwin
Chief Editor, MIDIRS

I am really sorry, but I am half way through and it reads as a marketing exercise for the 'new' Midirs. I am quite upset, given the circumstances surrounding the demise of Midirs.
Can I ask who designed the survey?

Best wishes

Dear colleagues,
I would like to encourage you to participate in answering the survey. In it you have the opportunity to give your opinion - also regarding the much needed (scientific) independence of the MIDIRS journal/digest.

Kind regards,
