medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

I wonder if there is any connection between these wall paintings, and those
found at St Teilo, formerly at Landeilo Tal y bont, Glamorgan, and now at St
Fagans

Thank you for the links!
Nice to meet you, "face-to-face" as well, Maddy!

The church has nave and a substantial south aisle with south chapel at the
east end. The St George is most of the south wall, the Sins go round the
west end of the south wall and onto the west wall. There is clearly
undamaged paint under the limewash on the west wall of the aisle north of
the window and round to the north wall of the aisle - current best guess is
the Acts of Mercy. There are traces of paint elsewhere including over the
chancel arch, but Jane Rutherfoord says the smooth plaster elsewhere
suggests it has been renewed in the post-medieval period and won't have any
paint.

There are also post-medieval texts (you can see part of one which has been
left over the castle and princess in the St George painting) which may make
it difficult to justify exploring further.

Very curious as to the extent of them. The video suggests one end of one
aisle has its paint scheme intact, a rare opportunity to get some sense of
the original appearance of the whole church. Wonderful.

There, a series of fabulous wall paintings - featuring St George, as well as
depictions of the seven deadly sins - has been uncovered.
