At the risk of stating the bl***ing obvious, I'd say don't underestimate YouTube. It's not the only way and it's not quite COPE, but lots of orgs from the BFI to our own Wellcome Library see good traffic to archival material through their own YT channels:

Videos on YouTube are also very discoverable and shareable -- Wellcome Library ones have often been picked up by Boing Boing, for example. YouTube also have a non-profits programme so you don't automatically have to serve ads.

We're sat on a heap of newly digitised film from our Film Archive Collection. Question is, how best to get it out there?
We have a fairly pedestrian collections online site which embeds Vimeo, but we want always to follow the maxim of 'Create Once Publish Everywhere' - so how to do this for digitised film?
Any suggestions or case studies welcome.
