Interpretive Master Planning

This is a 4-day intensive course on the state-of-the art in Interpretive Master Planning for parks, museums, heritage sites, botanical gardens/zoos and related interpretive sites and facilities.  Some of the topics covered will include:
 
* The model of interpretation planning.
* Objective and outcome based interpretive planning.
* Planning real "interpretive" media (provoke, relate, reveal).
* Visitor surveys and audience analysis.
* Marketing strategies
* Planning for "Mass Customization and Markets of One".
* The Experience Economy and experience inventories.
* Evaluation and pre testing.
* Budget and implementation strategies.
 
Bring your interpretive planning project with you to work on during the course for interpretive planning "coaching" on your project.
 
 
Course Instructor: John Veverka (Publisher of InterpNEWS and Author of the two-volume "Interpretive Master  Planning" text book set).  John brings 30 years of interpretive planning experience including teaching introductory and advanced courses in interpretation at Ohio State University, Michigan State University, and Heritage Tourism Institutes at New York University and West Georgia State University.
 

Course Resources:

 

Each participant is strongly encouraged to bring your interpretive planning project and laptop computer with you to work on your project during the course.  Blank interpretive planning form sets will be provided.

 

You will receive a “Interpretive Planning Resource CD” with interpretive plan copies and John Veverka’s  two volume Interpretive Master Planning text book set as e-books on the CD.

 

Post-course support - on line via e-mail or Skype contact with John Veverka after the course to continue to provide assistance, coaching and support to help you get your plan completed.

 

Note: to provide maximum contact and coaching time between participants and the course instructor, the course has a maximum of 10 participants.  Book early to hold your place.
