Lectureship in Human Geography
Queen Mary, University of London -School of Geography

(Two year fixed term)

Applications are invited for a two-year fixed term lectureship in Human Geography in the world-leading School of Geography at Queen Mary, University of London. We are seeking to make an appointment which will enhance the research and teaching activities of the School of Geography and its internal and external collaborations. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrable research expertise and teaching experience in the broad areas associated with the School of Geography’s Health, Biosciences and Security Research Theme, particularly in the field of global health.

Applicants should have, or be due to submit, a PhD and be developing a reputation for internationally excellent research in Human Geography. Applicants should have teaching experience and expertise appropriate to their career stage at undergraduate and taught postgraduate level.

The School of Geography at QMUL was ranked joint first among UK geography departments in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, and has an international reputation for theoretically informed and empirically grounded research. The School operates within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The post is full time for 24 months, starting from 1st April 2014. Starting salary will be £38,579 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
