MobileHCI 2014 Doctoral Consortium

Call for Doctoral Consortium:

The MobileHCI 2014 Doctoral Consortium provides an opportunity for students within different areas of mobile HCI  to receive constructive feedback from a panel of leading researchers with expertise spanning the different areas of the conference. The Doctoral Consortium also provides an excellent opportunity to meet other graduate students working in the area and at a similar stage in their research careers.

Important Dates:

April 11, 2014: Doctoral Consortium paper submissions deadline.

May 16, 2014: Notification of acceptance.

September 23, 2014: Date of Doctoral Consortium.

Submission and Topic Information:

The research topics covered by the DC are the same as those for the MobileHCI conference in general (and can be found on the conference website).

To apply for the MobileHCI 2014 doctoral consortium, students should submit (via the PCS system) a concise proposal of at most two pages in the ACM archive format, including the following information:

-    Title of your thesis research and your name;

-    Provide appropriate background and motivation for your research area;

-    Clearly state the problem being addressed, your research goals and key research questions;

-    Explain your approach to tackling these research questions and sketch your general research methodology;

-    Describe the key studies/research you have conducted so far, and results obtained. Also state the number of months that you have left to go in your studies;

-    Remaining research efforts and your time plan for carrying out your remaining research;

-    List all of your own publication to date;

-    A brief note describing your motivation for attending the DC. If you have any specific questions that you would like to discuss in the DC then include these also.

Note that your submission should not be anonymized.

Reviewing:

The proposals will be evaluated by a review committee comprising the DC chairs and additional senior mobile HCI experts. Approximately 8 participants will be selected to participate in the Doctoral Consortium.
