Senior Academic and Student Support Services Manager

Salary c. £40,000 dependant on experience

Based London, Euston

The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) in Central London has the object of promoting the scholarship and learning of Muslim cultures and societies, historical as well as contemporary, and a better understanding of their relationship with other societies and faiths.
The post holder will take the lead in the management, operation and enhancement of student and academic administration and the realisation of a 'one-stop shop' approach to meeting the growing number of graduate students' needs for information, advice and pastoral care.

The role will involve leading, deploying and managing a small team and leading the Institute's engagement with quality assurance systems and legislative frameworks (QAA, UKBA etc) in conjunction with the Head of Department, the Course Director of the two graduate programmes, and IIS' partner institutions.  In addition, the post holder will be required to and maintain and improve an effective student data system in order to maximise and enhance services to students and staff across the department.

You will have:

·         A good understanding of legislation governing international student administration and an overall understanding of current issues in higher education, including QAA and UKBA policies and practices.
·         Good organisational and planning abilities, as well as the ability to manage a varied and pressured workload (for self and team).
·         Proven track record of leading, managing and motivating people within the higher education sector, ideally in academic services as well as specific student support services experience
·         Substantial IT skills as well as good oral and written communication abilities
·         A demonstrable ability to relate to graduate students from diverse backgrounds
·         A degree or an equivalent level of professional experience/education.
·         Line management experience in the higher education sector
·         Experience of managing and using student record systems and delivering in-house staff training.
