The Information and Archives department at Channel Four is looking to recruit a full time Digital Records Specialist.  The post will be based at Channel Four’s headquarters in Victoria, London. 

This role primarily ensures that Information & Archives is fulfilling its responsibility for electronic records management to the best of its capabilities. This involves putting procedures in place to develop effective electronic records management, encouraging departments to transfer born-digital records to archives, keeping up to date with industry advice and best practice, issuing guidance to staff, and taking measures to ensure the preservation of the digital records in the custody of Information & Archives.

The role involves promotion and management of ANDA (the read-only digital archive via which departments can access their most important documents securely via their desktops).  The postholder will convene meetings of the Electronic Records Steering Group and develop the agendas for these meetings. The postholder may be involved in working alongside the IT department to deliver joint projects and initiatives.

This role also involves providing support to the FOI and Compliance Manager by helping to log, research, and respond to FOI requests from the public, manage the FOI database, keep up to date with legislation and relevant case law.
This role also involves supporting the Information & Archives team by helping with ongoing projects such as historical archives projects.

Key responsibilities

• Developing strategies for the continual improvement of electronic records management at Channel 4 including strategies for the preservation of scanned and born-digital records.
• Cataloguing and uploading any digital accessions using CALM.
• Helping to update policies and procedures, including retention schedules, especially with regards to electronic records.
• Identifying new series of records for digital accessions and areas of risk in electronic records management.
• Supporting the FOI and Compliance Manager in her role of managing the FOI process; sending out responses to FOI requests and helping to maintain the FOI log. 
• Supporting the work of the historical archive by ensuring that key records are digitally preserved.
• Convening regular meetings of the cross-departmental Electronic Records Steering Group and developing the agenda for these meetings.
• Supporting the team with any other ad-hoc projects as they arise.
