Museum Archivist and Records Manager

12 month fixed term appointment (maternity cover)
£33,663 per annum plus benefits

The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in scientific research and as a leader in the presentation of natural history through exhibitions, public programmes, publications and the web.

The Museum Archives and Records Management team sits within the Library and Archives department. The Museum Archivist and Records Manager is responsible for the management, development and promotion of the archives and modern records services.  The post is also the Information Compliance Officer for the Museum, responsible for Freedom of Information, Data Protection and the Environmental Information Regulations, and leading on the day-to-day implementation of Information Assurance policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will need to be familiar with Freedom of Information, Data Protection and EIR issues, and will have proven experience in records management and archives collections management and preservation. You’ll need excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

A postgraduate qualification in archives and records management is essential for this post.
