Full Fact is looking for a Writer/Researcher to join its team. If you have a talent for writing, a nose for nonsense, and care about informed political debate, then we want to hear from you.

About us

Full Fact is the UK’s only independent factchecking organisation. We aim to provide people with the tools to make informed political choices and prevent the spread of bad information by factchecking the claims that politicians and the media make.

Our “must-read” analysis has been widely praised and featured in the media, most recently through a partnership with the BBC to factcheck the nation’s most popular political discussion programme: Question Time.

The opportunity

We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic who is comfortable working in a small team and on their own initiative. There will be plenty of opportunities to grow with the organisation and take on new responsibilities and projects.

The Senior Writer/Researcher role is open to people with several years’ experience and a track record of success in analysis and communication in a high-level policy or journalism environment. The Writer/Researcher role is open to graduates with a strong academic record.

What we’re looking for

Communication. It’s essential that you’re able to write about complicated issues in an engaging way for a non-specialist audience. You’ll understand how to communicate effectively in a variety of ways, from letters to MPs, to tweets, to producing eye-catching graphs.

Analysis. We're known for producing top-quality research quickly: we write factchecks daily and provide a live analysis of claims during events such as PMQs. You will be comfortable covering a variety of topics, but will be expected to develop expertise in one of our core areas (the economy, crime, health, immigration and education). A background in statistics or a willingness to learn is important, as is an interest in and knowledge of UK politics.

Neutrality. You must be willing to commit to our politically neutral ethos and to be transparent about your own political background and any conflicts of interest.

Engagement. You'll be an ambassador for Full Fact, and enthusiastic about engaging in a two-way conversation with our users. You will be sensitive to our role in the political landscape and be able to apply sound judgement under pressure.

If you want to join us and think you could help take our work up a level, then we’d like to hear from you. Please send a CV and a covering letter to Will Moy on [log in to unmask] by Monday 25th November. If you have any questions about the role, you’re welcome to email on [log in to unmask] or the current post-holder Emily Craig on [log in to unmask].
