Dear list members, I thought some of you may find this November 1 article from the New York Times interesting and pertinent: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/03/education/edlife/finding-life-after-academia-and-not-feeling-bad-about-it.html This also made me curious about the career aspirations of those opting for PhD in the design fields—if at all there is a significant number that is looking outside academia and the "tenure track". Would love to hear your perspectives on this, as a one-time PhD candidate who opted out.
