This course is provided by the Welsh Government and is open to staff and volunteers working in museums, archives and libraries in Wales. It is suitable for anyone who is responsible for engaging audiences; if you work in education, outreach or marketing, or if you have audience development as part of your role, but don’t have lots of time and money to put towards it then this is the course for you.

Aims

By the end of the course participants will be able to

·       Recognise the barriers and motivations of potential audiences and apply this information to your own work

·       Use your own and other audience data to understand more about audiences

·       Identify and find audiences for your work

·       Create an audience development plan

Training Methods

An interactive workshop including case studies, practical exercises and a set of resources to take away.

Preparation

Delegates are asked to think in advance about what they know about their current audiences.

Trainers:

Sarah Boiling is Programme Director at the Audience Agency. She works with a range of cultural organisations to help them grow and deepen their relationships with audiences and has presented at the MA Conference, Museums and Heritage Show and the AMA Conference.

Nick Beasley is Chief Executive at Audiences Wales. Nick delivers a range of marketing consultancy services, audience development projects and training for the cultural sectors in Wales including the highly regarded Arts Marketing Essentials training programmes.
