The Cultural Report Section of the journal of Celebrity Studies is seeking papers that examine and explore celebrity and fame in focus areas that are traditionally marginalized. This is because celebrity is a worldwide phenomenon and no population or culture is too small to produce, circulate and consume fame. Too often these cultures do not get explored.


The editor of the Cultural Report seeks papers of 2,500 words in length that approach the movement of celebrity and fame outside of dominant Western contexts and cultures.  Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:


Movement of celebrity in the:

                Middle East

                Latin America

                Eastern Europe

                African Nations

                Asia including Afghanistan, China, India, Pakistan, Japan

 

Marginal and minoritarian celebrity figures

 

Indigenous cultures

Peripheral star and celebrity case studies

 

This is an open call for papers with no set deadline mandated. All accepted papers will be blind peer reviewed. The style guidelines can be found at the following URLs:

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
