<em>Organizer</em>: John Foot, University of Bristol.<br>This panel looks to attract papers linked to the history and culture of psychiatry in Italy and the institution of the psychiatric hospital in the 20th century. I am interested in work which looks at individual asylums as well as doctors, patients and administrators. I would also be interested in research into the movement against the asylum system which began to take hold in Italy in the early 1960s and led directly to the so-called &#39;Basaglia Law&#39; in 1978. <br>
